Monstrous Origins

Micah’s father, Jeff, is dating a woman named Serenity. At first, everything turns out great with Micah and his brothers (Matthew and Christopher) bonding with not only Serenity herself, but also her one and only son, Austin. Micah’s father eventually felt like it was the right time to marry Serenity, in which he did. Micah and his brothers liked having Serenity as their stepmother and Austin as their stepbrother, but somewhere along the line, Serenity takes a dark turn and starts to mistreat everyone, including Micah and his brothers and father, and even Austin. Micah’s father eventually works up the courage to file for divorce and leave Serenity while still keeping in touch with Austin along with Micah and his brothers, but the damage had already been done with Micah dealing with some levels of self-esteem. One day at school, Micah offers assistance to some of his teachers and classmates who are struggling to solve a problem, only to get rebuffed. With the bus to the elementary school boarding later on, Micah sits in the very last row and stares miserably out the window until Wesley approaches him.

“Hey Micah!” said Wesley.

“Hey Wesley.” responded Micah miserably.

“Mind if I sit here?” asked Wesley.

“No. Go ahead.” answered Micah. Wesley sits next to Micah and asks, “Rough day?”

“Unfortunately.” answered Micah.

“What happened this time?” asked Wesley.

“The usual. Teachers and classmates once again rudely rejecting my willingness to help out during times of need.” answered Micah miserably.

“Ah, what do they know? Don’t let it get you down, ok? Let them miss out if they’re going to be that way. It’s their loss.” responded Wesley.

“I just wish they could see the value of my vast knowledge instead of as a way of showing off. That’s not what I’m out to do.” said Micah.

“They’re just jealous, or maybe they’re having a bad day themselves. Look, we’re almost home, where you can be with your family. They surely admire your gift.” responded Wesley. After arriving at the elementary school, Micah and Wesley part ways, where Micah continues to offer his assistance to certain problems his mother, stepfather, and brothers are struggling with. Micah’s mother, stepfather, and brothers also rebuff his offer, leaving Micah feeling isolated and turning his attention towards his homework. Trekker watches on surveillance as Micah miserably completes his homework while saying, “This could surely work! With Micah’s self-esteem dropping by the second, the world will be as good as mine!”

“Hey dad! I’ve brought someone!” says Trekker Jr. while approaching Trekker. Trekker turns his attention to Trekker Jr., who is accompanied by a buff man.

“Whoa! Who’s this guy?” asked Trekker.

“He won’t tell me.” answered Trekker Jr.

“Oh well. That’s not important, but it sure gives me an idea. With his strength and my brain, I could create the ultimate villain to rid Micah and take over the world!” said Trekker. Trekker’s Trekker Phone suddenly rings with Trekker immediately answering it.

“Hello?” asked Trekker.

“Hey there, Monster Guy! How’s mommy’s little evil genius doing?” asked Mrs. Trekker.

“Mom! How many times do I have to tell you not to call me ‘Monster Guy’? I hate that name!” whispered Trekker angrily.

“But it was given to you at birth. Your father, however, wanted a more ‘creative’ name.” responded Mrs. Trekker annoyingly.

“Well he did the right thing. Anyway, what do you want? I’m very busy here.” asked Trekker annoyingly.

“I just wanted to say ‘Hi’!” answered Mrs. Trekker.

“Hello! And goodbye!” responds Trekker angrily while subsequently hanging up. Trekker collects his thoughts while saying, “All right. Where were we? Ah, yes! Fire up the machine, Jr.! We’re going to do a little experiment!”

“You got it, dad! Coming, mister?” asked Trekker Jr. The man follows Trekker Jr. as he makes his way towards a machine, in which he is strapped down next to Trekker.

“All right, Jr. When I give the signal, throw the switch.” said Trekker. Trekker Jr. gives a thumbs up while Trekker does a quick inspection, giving Trekker Jr. a nod afterwards. Trekker Jr. pulls down a lever and watches Trekker’s experiment in action while Micah spends time with his father, stepmother (LJ), and brothers at his father’s house. Micah’s father and stepmother also rebuff Micah’s assistance after offering it, causing Micah to lose confidence and hope.

“That’s it! No more Mr. Nice Guy! From now on, I will not help anyone but myself! I guess that’s just the way it is around here!” says Micah to himself angrily while walking away. Meanwhile, Trekker and Trekker Jr. observe the results of their experiment.

“It’s beautiful! We still got to give him a name.” said Trekker. Trekker and Trekker Jr. think for a moment with Trekker Jr. subsequently responding, “I got it! Monster Guy!”

“That’s the best you could come up with?!” asked Trekker angrily.

“Well, look at him. He’s half monster, half guy. It just seems fitting to me.” responded Trekker Jr.

“Why, that’s…” said Trekker angrily.

“The best name ever!” said the experiment. Trekker and Trekker Jr. stare at the experiment astonishingly and then look back at each other.

“Please, dad? He likes it.” asked Trekker Jr. Trekker thinks for a while and annoyingly responds, “Oh, all right. As long as you’re both happy, I guess I have no choice. Monster Guy, it is, though I still think it’s a ridiculous name.”

“All right, you two. Here’s the plan…” continues Trekker while huddling Trekker Jr. and Monster Guy up into a circle. Too distracted to pay any attention, Serenity makes her way onto Trekker’s turf while complaining to herself.

“I can’t believe Jeff dumped me! Who does he think he is? I’ll show him!” says Serenity to herself while inadvertently entering Trekker’s mansion.

“And then, we…” said Trekker.

“Excuse me.” said Serenity. Trekker, Trekker Jr., and Monster Guy turn their attention to Serenity with Trekker annoyingly asking, “What, may I ask, are you doing here? Do you have any idea where you’re at?”

“Don’t get all snippy with me! Sorry, but I’ve had a rough life and just want to get home.” responded Serenity.

“Oh, you had a hard life, huh?” asked Trekker annoyingly.

“What’s it to you?” asked Serenity angrily.

“You know, we’d love to hang out and chat with you and all, but we’re in the middle of a discussion. So if you could be so kind to just turn around and leave the mansion, I would greatly appreciate that!” responded Trekker annoyingly.

“Fine. All I ever wanted was to give Jeff what he deserves and to be happy.” replies Serenity annoyingly while walking away.

“Jeff? Now where have I heard that name before?” asked Trekker. Trekker Jr. pulls out and shows Trekker a photo of Micah while clearing his throat. Trekker looks at the photo and says, “Oh, right! Micah’s father!” Before Serenity could walk out the door, Trekker hollers, “Wait!” Serenity stops in her tracks and turns her attention to Trekker, who approaches her and continues, “We might be able to help out, after all.”

“You mean it?” asked Serenity excitedly.

“Oh, sure! We live to please! Don’t move! I’ll be right back!” answers Trekker while running back to Trekker Jr. and Monster Guy. Trekker finishes discussing his plan to Trekker Jr. and Monster Guy, leading them to Serenity afterwards.

“Want to come with us?” asked Trekker.

“Sure. It’s not like I have anything better to do.” answers Serenity while following Trekker, Trekker Jr., and Monster Guy. The next day, Wesley walks around town when suddenly, a giant robot appears and destroys everything in its path, causing everyone around to panic and run for their lives. Wesley looks up at the head and sees Trekker, Trekker Jr. and Serenity inside while Serenity asks, “Why are we breaking things and scaring people?”

“Oh. Uhhh…we’re remodeling. You see, Arcanum has so many problems. Weak structures, busted pipes, potholes, you name it. We’re just taking everything down so we can rebuild them from the ground up, and the best part is, we’re doing it all absolutely free. Everyone here knows about our work, including the mayor. They’re just cheering us on with a frightened facade is all.” answered Trekker.

“Are you sure this will make me happy?” asked Serenity.

“One hundred percent! And beyond, if that’s even possible!” answered Trekker.

“Yeah! Money isn’t everything. It’s putting others before yourself that makes you a real hero.” said Trekker Jr.

“Well, if it’s good enough for you guys, it’s good enough for me.” responded Serenity.

“That’s the spirit! Monster Guy, start destroying whatever comes your way!” replies Trekker while opening a hatch to the robot.

“Destroy?!” exclaimed Serenity.

“Uhh, I mean…remodeling! Start remodeling whatever you set your sights on.” responded Trekker.

“You got it, boss!” replies Monster Guy while exiting the robot. Monster Guy approaches a building and perplexingly stares at it, calling Trekker afterwards.

“Hello. Evil genius Trekker speaking.” says Trekker while answering his Trekker Phone.

“Hey, boss. It’s Monster Guy. How, exactly, do you remodel something?” asked Monster Guy.

“Hold on. I’ll be right down.” responds Trekker while subsequently dropping the call. Trekker exits the robot while saying, “Excuse me for a moment, Serenity. I have some important business matters to attend to.”

“I’ll be here.” responded Serenity. Trekker approaches Monster Guy, angrily slapping him across the face while subsequently saying, “We’re not really remodeling, fool! We’re destroying the town as part of our plan. Remember?”

“But you said…” responded Monster Guy. Trekker quickly covers Monster Guy’s mouth with his hand while subsequently replying, “Not another word, before you blow our cover to Serenity. Understand?”

“Mm-hmm.” mumbles Monster Guy while nodding his head.

“Good. Now, get to work! Remember, when I say ‘remodel’, I really mean ‘destroy’. Don’t let Serenity know about our real plan involving her, and don’t make me come back down here either!” responds Trekker while heading back to the robot. While in town, Wesley observes as Trekker, Trekker Jr., and Monster Guy continue wreaking havoc on Arcanum and calls Micah, who angrily works in his laboratory and answers his Micah Phone after hearing it ring.

“Hello. Worthless Micah speaking.” said Micah annoyingly.

“Don’t say that!” responded Wesley.

“Who, may I ask, is calling?” asked Micah annoyingly.

“It’s Wesley, your best friend.” answered Wesley.

“Oh. Hi, Wesley. What is it this time?” asked Micah annoyingly.

“Arcanum is in big trouble! Trekker’s at it again!” answered Wesley.

“What else is new?” asked Micah sarcastically.

“This is no time to be moping around feeling sorry for yourself, Micah. I know you’re upset about people not appreciating your good deeds, but this is an emergency. You’ve got to snap out of it and spring into action, just like you always do.” responded Wesley.

“So I can anger even more people with my annoying abilities? Not a chance!” replied Micah annoyingly.

“Micah, come on! There are lives at stake here! Heck, your dad’s old girlfriend, Serenity, is inside the giant robot that Trekker is controlling! I think he’s holding her hostage!” said Wesley.

“On second thought, let him go. She’s the whole reason why I’m like this.” responded Micah annoyingly.

“That’s it? You’re just giving up?” asked Wesley.

“What choice do I have? If nobody wants me around, so be it. As for Serenity, Trekker can destroy her for all I care. If I’m going down, she’s going down with me.” responded Micah angrily.

“I really don’t like where this is going, Micah. Fine. If you won’t stop Trekker, I will.” replies Wesley angrily while subsequently dropping the call. Wesley pulls out his Biking Power Wesley gloves and goes after Trekker, only to get captured while Micah’s father and brothers walk around town.

“Do you think we’ve been too hard on Micah lately?” asked Micah’s father.

“We should probably head back and apologize.” said Christopher. Micah’s father and brothers suddenly hear screaming and people running for their lives right towards them.

“What’s going on?” asked Micah’s father.

“It could only mean one thing…” responded Matthew. A giant robotic foot suddenly stomps and comes to rest in front of Micah’s father and brothers, who look up and see Trekker.

“That’s right! I, the evil troll genius Trekker, am taking over this town! And then…the world! Ha ha ha ha! Monster Guy, fetch!” said Trekker. Monster Guy suddenly grabs Micah’s father and brothers from behind and carries them into the robot, where they meet up with Wesley and Serenity.

“Jeff!” said Serenity sarcastically.

“Serenity!” responded Micah’s father sarcastically.

“Any last words before we enslave the human race?” asked Trekker menacingly.

“Enslave the human race? That wasn’t part of the deal.” said Serenity.

“Oh, I forgot. I lied to you, Serenity. I was never going to make you happy. Neither of us were.” responded Trekker.

“What do you mean?” asked Serenity.

“We’re double-crossing you. We were only manipulating you as part of our plan for world domination.” responded Trekker Jr. menacingly.

“So you’ve been playing me this whole time?!” asked Serenity angrily.

“Yes! And now that you’ve figured it out, why don’t you join the rest of the hostages?” says Trekker while tying up Serenity along with Micah’s father, brothers, and Wesley.

“Trekker, wait.” said Micah’s father. Trekker stops his hand just before pressing a button marked with a skull and crossbones, angrily turning his attention to Micah’s father.

“May we send a message to Micah?” asked Micah’s father.

“All right, but make it quick!” answers Trekker while pulling out a camera. Micah continues working in his laboratory, dwelling on his self-esteem until he hears an incoming call coming from his computer. Micah answers the call with Trekker appearing on screen while saying, “Well, if it isn’t the so-called ‘hero’ that’s not trying to stop me. You got a message.” Trekker pans the camera to Micah’s father, brothers, Wesley, and Serenity with Micah’s father saying, “Micah, we’re sorry for what we did. We were just so focused on our tasks at hand, we didn’t think about how to react properly.”

“Truth is, Micah, Arcanum needs you. WE need you.” said Matthew.

“We didn’t know what we had until it was gone. The Micah we know and love never runs from a fight, even when faced with criticism. This is not you, Micah. So please, pull yourself together and save us.” said Christopher. Trekker drops the call with Christopher continuing, “I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t show up.”

“I’m sorry too, Jeff.” said Serenity.

“What did you say?” asks Micah’s father while turning his attention to Serenity.

“I, too, didn’t realize what I had until it was gone. All those years of being mistreated by my mother has blinded me to life’s wonders. Can you ever forgive me?” asked Serenity.

“Already have.” answered Micah’s father.

“If we ever get out of here, I promise to be a kinder person and get the help I need. What Trekker did was certainly a wake-up call. Is that what I’ve been like this entire time?”

“I’m afraid so. But, it’s all water under the bridge now.” answered Micah’s father.

“Yeah, yeah. That’s really touching, you guys. Now, keep it down so I can get on with my master plan!” says Trekker angrily while preparing to press the button marked with a skull and crossbones. Trekker presses the button, which has no effect at all, leading to an automated voice saying, “Annihiliation failed.” Baffled, Trekker presses the button a couple more times, in which nothing still happens.

“Why won’t this thing work?!” asks Trekker angrily while continuing to press the button. Trekker hears a knock coming from one of the front windows and draws his attention to it, seeing Micah (in his Power Micah form) hovering outside and tauntingly waving at him while showing wires he had ripped out.

“Micah?! How did you…?” asked Trekker angrily. Micah punches out one of the windows and grabs Trekker, Trekker Jr., and Monster Guy, flying to the nearest police officers and placing them in their presence. After watching Trekker, Trekker Jr., and Monster Guy get hauled away, Micah enters the robot and frees his father, brothers, Wesley, and Serenity, in which they all safely exit afterwards.

“I knew you’d come back. Thanks for rescuing us.” said Micah’s father. Micah turns his attention to Wesley and says, “Thanks for not giving up on me, buddy.”

“Anytime, pal. That’s what I’m here for.” responds Wesley while shaking hands with Micah. Micah then turns his attention to Serenity and annoyingly says, “I suppose you’d like to scold me right about now, just like you did in the past. Go ahead. Hit me with your best shot.”

“No, actually.” responded Serenity.

“Whatever you’re trying to pull here, it’s not going to work.” replied Micah annoyingly.

“Micah, let her speak.” says Micah’s father while putting his hand on Micah’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry. I never should have hurt you. My mind was so full of pain and suffering myself, but after seeing what you did today, I plan to become a better person. What do you say?” asked Serenity.

“Well…” responds Micah while contemplating.

“Remember what I taught you about forgiveness, Micah?” asked Micah’s father.

“I guess I can put it behind us. Apology accepted.” said Micah. Serenity embraces Micah with his father and brothers joining in, parting ways afterwards with Serenity saying, “I’ll see you guys around.” Micah happily joins his father and brothers for their personal time together with Wesley parting ways himself while saying, “My work here is done.” With Micah once again saving the day, his family, teachers, and classmates all begin to admire his gifts and talents while taking the proper cautionary measures of declining his offers of assistance, improving Micah’s self-worth.
